Iridium will be on the NSU campus for masterclasses and performances, including a performance of David Maslanka’s Concerto for Saxophone Quartet with the NSU Wind Symphony.

Past NSU saxfest 2021 - Virtual

The 2021 NSU SaxFest was held virtually on February 27. Our guest artist was Stephen Page. Due to the virtual platform, the SaxFest was able to reach saxophonists from two different countries and in five different states. Stay tuned for information regarding the 2022 NSU SaxFest. Due to the Coronavirus, we have had to postpone the 2020 SaxFest. It we are able to reschedule it, we will notify everyone as soon as possible. Please stay tuned for updates about the 2020 SaxFest and the 2021 SaxFest. Guest artists - Arno BornKamp, Kenneth Tse, and casey dierlam!

Past SaxFest 2019

Chris Bullock - Saxophonist with SNARKY PUPPY

Chris Bullock will be embarking on his debut CD release tour and will be our NSU SaxFest Guest Artist with the Chris Bullock Band (Justin Stanton (keyboard/trumpeter from Snarky Puppy) on keys/synth, Frank LoCrasto on keys/synth, and Jharis Yokley on drums).

The SaxFest starts at 1pm on February 2 in Magale Recital Hall on the campus of NSU and will include:

• 1pm - Jazz Combo Masterclass by guest artists

• 2:15pm - Q&A with Chris Bullock

• 3pm - Saxophone Choir reading session

• 4pm - Pizza Social

• 6pm MAIN EVENT - Chris Bullock Band in Concert

More details to follow. The event is FREE and open to the public.

Past nsu saxfest - Saturday, january 27, 2018

Our guest artist for the 2018 NSU SaxFest will be Kenneth Tse, internationally-renowned saxophonist and Saxophone Professor at the University of Iowa. 

The 2018 SaxFest will feature:

  • 12pm - Collegiate Masterclass with Kenneth Tse

  • 1:30pm - High School Masterclass with Kenneth Tse

  • 2:45pm - Saxophone Choir Reading Session (All age of saxophonists are invited to participate) The saxophone choir will perform to open the main event recital at 6pm.

  • 6pm Main Event - Guest Artist Recital featuring Kenneth Tse and Chialing Tse

All events are in Magale Recital Hall on the campus of Northwestern State University, AND are free and open to the public!
